Abstract:

In the context of spectrum surveillance, new methods for estimating all the parameters of a direct sequence spread spectrum transmission, without prior knowledge, are presented. First, an approach is proposed to detect a spread spectrum signal, whose most important property is low probability of interception. Then, we introduce a robust blind synchronization algorithm, which enables us to precisely estimate the symbol period. The whole pseudo-noise sequence is then estimated and, finally, the transmitted symbols are retrieved. A theoretical performance analysis of the spreading sequence estimation procedure is presented and Monte Carlo simulations are performed to show the efficiency of the proposed method.
